Santorini |
Santorini is the Southest island of Cyclades and is extended in 96 square kilometers and the longest distance, which one can traverse into the island is 33 kilometers. |

| The sight of the island on the west side is rocky and remoted and ends at an abrupt precipice which measures 300 meters over the sea surface and this sharp precipice cutting continuous also under the sea level at a depth of 500-700 m. |

| On the eastern side of the island are the beaches, which have the peculiarity to be covered by black coloured sand! Only at a certain place and in a short distance extension, there is red and white sand. |

| The island has a unique land morphology and rare colours combination like black, red, yellow, orange and white, which have risen from the volcano explosion. The volcano is located in the sea area on west side of Santorini and visitors can go there by small boats everyday through a path, which ends at the ends at the crater of the volcano; tourists can take a stone from there as a souvenir. The water round the volcano is warm and there are only some certain places in which tourists can swim. |

| Some other points where visitor can swim and enjoy the sea are Kamari and Perissa; the peculiarity which creates the uniqueness of Santorini beaches is their length and moreover 97% of the island have black coloured sand; another peculiarity is that there is a vast beach of six kilometers length which starts from Perissa and finally reaches the fishermen's small port of Vlihada.
These six kilometers are near a coast road on which there are some restaurants, bars, mini-markets and Jet Ski rental shop so that every visitor can take his bath at Perissa and go for a walk in this unique beach. |

| The modern name of the island ‘Santorini' comes from Saint Irene; SANTA IRENE'S church is located in Perissa and was buried under the earth surface; later on, a new church of Saint Irene was constructed again on top of the old one, which is now a famous archaeological sight. |
